“You don't make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.” - Ansel Adams

How I Work: I want to catch that moment when eyes soften and faces relax. When the guard goes down. When the true self comes out. I want each photo to stand on its own, to be a permanent window into the world of that particular memory. I want to tell the whole story. I want you to feel at ease, to forget that you're being photographed and simply live in the present.

About me: I live in Redmond, Washington, with my wife, two wild and strong young daughters, and a baby boy. My visual inspirations tend to be filmmakers, and when I'm not taking photos, I'm usually watching classic films or reading and writing fiction.

Gear: I primarily shoot with Canon cameras, along with Canon lenses and flashes. I also like to lug around Pentax and Rolleiflex medium-format film cameras for key shots, and I definitely bring backup equipment to every shoot, just in case.

Commitment: My 2019 full-day wedding rate is $4500, which includes my start-to-finish shooting time—I typically show up for morning preparations and stay until you drive off into the night together—along with digital delivery of the edited, color-corrected images, which you can use however you'd like. (Custom rates are available for shorter weddings.) Family/portrait/engagement sessions start at $500 and usually involve us hanging out somewhere. Maybe we'll go on a hike. Or head down to the waterfront. Whatever your favorite spot is. I know some good ones too.

Video/Promo: I also make short films and wedding videos, shoot small-business promos, and love collaborating with actors, artists, and musicians.
